A fire outbreak on Tuesday destroyed several houses, shops, and offices worth millions of naira on Adebayo Street in Jos North Local Government Area of Plateau State.
Residents of the area told our correspondent that the incident occurred in the early hours of the morning while people were asleep, saying that many buildings were badly destroyed by the fire, with victims beginning to count their losses from the fire outbreak.
The victims of the incident alleged that the fire began inside a communication mast and subsequently spread to nearby houses and shops in the area, adding that the fire destroyed property worth millions of naira, including cash.
Imran Abdulrahman, a victim of the incident said “ i am living close to where the info occurred. I have my office attached to one of the buildings that got burnt. I peeped through the window, and saw how the fire was spreading to other house. When I came down, I saw how the fire destroyed our property. A woman lost 3 million naira cash. It is very unfortunate.”
Abdulrahman Onimisi, another victim explained that he lost properties worth millions of naira to the fire. He said “I engage in carpentry job, I could not remove a needle from my workshop, I have have been laboring for years but I lost everything in one day. I am short of words.
Sadiya Sani, who also lost her belongings in the incident said “we were sleeping when suddenly, we had a small blast from outside. When we came out of the house, we saw fire in this communication Mast. My neighbors and I have tried to put off the fire but couldn’t. Even the fire fighters who arrived during the incident tried their best but couldn’t succeed. The fire burnt our house and we lost lots of properties.”
