Tears of joy and relief are flowing as Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State delivers a powerful $247,000 (₦407.9 million) bailout—rescuing dozens of Kaduna-sponsored students who were stranded and forgotten abroad.
For years, these students had been trapped in a nightmare: unable to graduate, blocked from accessing their academic records, and stuck in limbo due to unpaid tuition fees inherited from the past administration. Some faced deportation. Others couldn’t even afford basic upkeep. Their dreams were collapsing—until now.

The lifeline covers debts owed to Medical University of Havana in Cuba ($164,010), Debrecen University in Hungary ($51,400), University of Wollongong in Dubai ($13,827.08), and KIU/IUIU in Uganda ($17,998). It’s a full rescue—one that brings academic freedom, peace of mind, and hope back to Kaduna’s best and brightest.
One student, overcome with emotion, wrote, “We were abandoned. Governor Uba Sani gave us back our future.”
The governor has also ordered a verification sweep to ensure no Kaduna student is left behind anywhere in the world. Executive Secretary of the State Scholarship Board, Prof. Yahya Saleh Ibrahim, hailed the intervention as “a lifeline” and “a clear sign that Kaduna now has a Governor who listens and acts.”
“At a time of endless blame games and empty rhetoric, Uba Sani has chosen action—and Kaduna’s children are the winners”, an Aide to the Governor– Nasir Dambatta told Reporters on telephone.
