The Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammad has approved the appointment of the 41 member high powered committee to review and propose the possibility of establishing new Emirates, Chiefdom and Districts across the state.
According to a statement issued yesterday by the Special Adviser Media and Publicity, Comrade Muhktar Gidado and made available to Journalists explained that the government decision follows invitation extended by the State Government for interested communities in the State to submit their Memoranda of Request for the creation of new Emirates, Chiefdoms or Districts.
Based on that the governor approved the appointment of a High-Powered Committee to review and appraise all such Memoranda received in line with the defined criteria and superintend the process of determination of deserving Emirates, Chiefdoms and Districts.
The statement said the Committee shall be guided in all its recommendations by equity and fairness while ensuring socio-political inclusiveness and financial sustainability for the Emirates, Chiefdoms or Districts to be created.
Comrade Muhktar Gidado stated that this is in a bold move to deepen grassroots governance, preserve cultural heritage, and promote inclusivity across traditional institutions in the State.
The Committee is under the chairmanship of Alhaji Hamza Koshe Akuyam former State Chairman of PDP with Justice Habibu Idris Shall as Deputy Chairman.
