The postponed public hearing on constitution review in the North West geopolitical zone will now hold on July 18 and 19, respectively in Kano, the capital of Kano State.
The public hearing, earlier fixed for July 4 and 5, was postponed in honour of the late business mogul and philanthropist, Alhaji Aminu Dantata, but was held in the remaining five geopolitical zones of the country as scheduled.
The postponement of the exercise in the region was announced by the Senate on Tuesday last week during plenary to allow the people of the Kano mourn the late Alhaji Dantata who died in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirate on Saturday, June 28, 2025 and buried in Madina, Saudi Arabia on Monday, June 30, 2025.
Deputy President of the Senate and chairman, Senate Committee on Constitution Review, Senator Jibrin Barau, who presided over the plenary on Wednesday, announced the new dates for the public hearing in the zone.
He, therefore, urged all senators across the 21 senatorial districts in the zone to attend the zonal public hearing and facilitate attendance of their constituents at the slated event for required peoples inputs into the very important exercise.
The Deputy Senate President also urged all concerned Nigerians in the zone to come up with their memoranda on areas of amendments they want in the constitution.
