The former chairman of the Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC), in the Federal Capital Territory, Honourable Micah Jiba, has said that members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) who are running into the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) or the coalition African Democratic Congress (ADC) are making serious mistake because the PDP is not just on ground in the FCT but in Nigeria at large.
Jiba who was speaking with Nigerian Pilot on Saturday when he served as a guest of honour at the meeting of the Ohanaeze Nd’Igbo FCT held in Abuja to celebrate the victory of the new president of association, Chief Andrew Ugwu who is bid to takeover mantle of leadership from the outgoing president, Barrister Ifeanyichukwu Obasi-Nweze on September 29 during the 2025 Igbo Day celebration.
The former council chairman who also served as member representing AMAC/Bwari Federal Constituency in the National Assembly said he won’t leave the PDP, because he believed that the party has the potential of winning elections whether within the FCT or Nigeria in general.
“People that find themselves in such an attitude are making a mistake, because from the beginning in 1998 when PDP came on board, if you minus it from 2025, you can see PDP never changed; it remains PDP.
“But when you look at all the other political parties, they have been changing their names. So, I want to tell you that PDP is still on ground, not only in Abuja, but in our country”, he bragged.
On his relationship with the Igbo people living in the nation’s capital, Micha Jiba said he became whatever he is today courtesy an Igbo man who introduced him into politics, and that he has received support from the Igbo community at the different times he contested elections and won.
Sincerely, anywhere I find myself, without any fear or favour, it is an Igbo man, not a Gbagyi man or Hausa man that put me in politics, and I want to say that 99 percent of Igbo people have been supporting me.
He wished Chief Andrew Ugwu success as he began the leadership of the Igbo people living in the FCT.
