The member representing Ikwo/Ezza South Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Chinedu Ogah, has taken a swipe at opposition elements in Ebonyi politics, dismissing what he described as “cheap propaganda” against his record and reaffirming his strong support for Governor Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru’s reelection bid in 2027.
Ogah, who spoke with journalists in Abakaliki, insisted that no lawmaker in Ebonyi has matched his achievements in leadership, development, and human empowerment, stressing that his entry into politics was “divinely ordained.” He cited interventions in education, employment, and community projects as proof of his performance.
“Since I began as a National Assembly member, I have put my energy into serving the people. Show me any other National Assembly member who has achieved what I have done. There is no ward where I have not executed a project whether water, electricity, boreholes, or roads,” Ogah declared.
He recalled that long before his election to the House of Representatives, he had paid WAEC fees for thousands of students and sponsored vocational and tertiary training, with many beneficiaries now serving as lecturers, commissioners, and professionals. But he lamented that some of them have turned against him for selfish political reasons.
Taking on critics, Ogah singled out Mr. Silas Orawo from Ikwo, accusing him of undermining Governor Nwifuru and himself during the last election, only to later feign loyalty. According to him, such politicians cannot even win elections in their polling units.
“I have tarred roads passing their houses, given their family members jobs, and paid their school fees. Yet, they now make disparaging remarks. If any of them can win me in their polling unit, I will quit politics,” he challenged.
Ogah said unlike some lawmakers who stay back in Abuja, he maintains regular contact with his people, often spending weekends in his constituency to address their needs. Since assuming office in 2019, he said, he has secured over 1,100 federal jobs for Ebonyians in the military, police, and paramilitary agencies, supported more than 450 university students, and facilitated the establishment of a National Open University study centre at the Correctional Service in Ebonyi.
Looking ahead, he pledged to deepen interventions in human capital development, irrigation and mechanized agriculture, and constituency hospitals if returned for a third term, noting that his constituents have already endorsed him.
On internal party matters, Ogah praised Governor Nwifuru’s leadership for instituting transparent primaries that have reduced political crises in the state. “Our governor has carried everyone along and provided us with the necessary tools to serve. For the first time, every National Assembly member has a brand-new vehicle to reach their constituents. This has never happened before in Ebonyi,” he said.
He dismissed speculations of a coalition against the governor, describing the remaining opponents as “feeding-bottle politicians” lacking consistency.
Reaffirming his loyalty, Ogah declared: “I was elected by the masses, not by an individual. My commitment remains to them, and I stand ready to continue serving.”
