Schoolgirls abducted from Government Girls Comprehensive Senior Secondary School, GGCSS, Maga in Danko/Wasagu Local Government Area of Kebbi State have regained their freedom following a non-kinetic intervention by the Federal Government.
Reports on Tuesday night confirmed that their release was secured through coordinated efforts involving the Office of the National Security Adviser, ONSA, and the Department of State Services, DSS.
Nigerian Pilot reports that the non-kinetic method centred on dialogue, negotiation and other peaceful engagements, reflects the government’s growing reliance on alternative strategies to resolve mass abductions without resorting to force.
The Kebbi attack, which echoed similar incidents across the region, sparked nationwide concern and triggered a directive from the Chief of Army Staff for troops to intensify search-and-rescue operations.
Nigerian Pilot had reported that 38 persons kidnapped from a Christ Apostolic Church in Eruku, Kwara State have also regained freedom, following government intervention.
