Quartet of Nigerian singers, D’banj, Olamide, Yemi Alade and Timi Dakolo thrilled fans at the opening ceremony of the 2024 African Military Games AMGA in Abuja yesterday.
A total number of 25 countries participated colourful march past at Moshood Abiola Stadium with lots of sports personalities and fans in attendance.
The games will showcase 19 different events with 3,000 athletes representing 25 African countries, taking place from November 18 to 30.
Both male and female athletes will participate in such sporting activities as badminton, boxing, basketball, combat swimming, football, golf, judo, and kick-boxing.
Other games include obstacle crossing, shooting, squash, table tennis, lawn tennis, taekwondo, volleyball, and wrestling among others.
The 2024 Africa Military Games are organized by the Organization of Military Sports in Africa, OSMA, and the International Military Sports Council, CISM.
The country is hosting the games after a 22-year hiatus. The organisers said this reflects its growing role in fostering African partnership and stability.
