Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation has announced that ten out of fifteen candidates have successfully passed the written examination for the position of Accountant-General of the Federation, advancing to the next stage of the selection process.
The results, which were released through an official circular on Wednesday, confirm that these ten candidates will now proceed to the next critical phase: the Information and Communication Technology, ICT proficiency test.
Scheduled for Thursday, February 13, 2025, the Office of the Head of Service said the test will further evaluate the candidates’ ability to utilize modern technology in managing public finances, an essential skill for today’s financial leadership.
Nigerian Pilot reports that the examination focused on key areas such as public financial management, auditing, and fiscal policy, ensuring that only the most qualified individuals continue in the process.
Eno Olotu, Director of Information and Public Relations in a statement on behalf of the Head of Service, Didi Walson-Jack, emphasized the importance of the process.
“We are pleased to announce that ten candidates have passed the written examination and will advance to the ICT proficiency test. This is a crucial stage in the selection process, and we remain committed to ensuring that the most qualified individuals are appointed to lead in the management of public finances,” the Head of Service was quoted as saying.
“This is a vital step toward strengthening the integrity and efficiency of Nigeria’s public financial management. The government is determined to uphold transparency, fairness, and merit in every stage of the recruitment process,” she added.
The tenure of the current Accountant-General, Dr. Oluwatoyin Madein, will conclude on March 7, 2025.
