Ahead of 2026 Governorship election in Osun State, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), and yesterday sought the support of media organizations in educating members of the public for the CVR exercise.
The INEC Resident Electoral Commissioner in Osun State, Dr Mutiu Agboke made the call while fielding questions from members of the NUJ Correspondents’ Chapel, Osogbo, noting that their support will help in educating the masses in order to come out for the Continuous Voters Registration exercise (CVR) and 2026 Governorship Election in Osun State.
Dr Agboke informed newsmen that, “We have always had cause to be on the same page in terms of the correct and adequate reportage of the activities of the commission in the state.
“I solicit for further synergy and support for us to be able to deliver on our mandate of a credible election in Osun State.
“The former shall commence with an online registration on the 18th day of August, 2025, while the in – person or physical registration shall commence on the 25th of August, 2025 across the 30 Local government offices in Osun state including the Area office at Modakeke.
“For the online registration, the prospective registrant will only visit www.cvr.inecnigeria.org.
“He will complete the registration forms available on the website and later visit the Local government offices for biometrics capturing, which include, the facials and the fingerprint.
“The CVR shall commence physically on the 25th August, 2025 between the hours of 9am and 3pm at no fee. In other words, no staff of the commission shall demand for any money from the registrants.
“On the other hand, the notice of election for the 2026 Governorship Election shall be released and pasted in all the 30
Local Government offices and the Area Office in Osun State on the 13th day of August, 2025.
“To the specifics, I use this auspicious opportunity to appeal to you to help spread the gospel of this CVR to the eligible registrants.
“They are; Someone who has attained 18yrs and above (Fresh registration), Someone who hitherto was residing in a place but currently residing elsewhere,(for this category of people, they require transfer and NOT fresh registration), Someone whose card had been defaced. “(This category requires replacement and NOT fresh registration), someone whose permanent voter card had been lost, (This category requires replacement and NOT fresh registration).
“Kindly note that in Osun State we have the total number of 1,954,800 registered of voters and the sum of 360,794 permanent voters’ card uncollected. We implore you to assist the commission in Osun State to mobilise the electorate to come out, not only to register for the PVC, but for the collection as well. Note that as it stands today, no pvc, no voting,” Dr Agboke concluded.
