Minister of the Federal Capital Territory FCT, Nyesom Wike, has praised President Bola Tinubu’s renewed hope agenda, describing it as “unprecedented” and “tremendous.”
During an inspection tour of project sites on Thursday at Wassa, the interchange at the Kubwa expressway, and Daki biyu, the Minister noted that despite being from a different party, he has seen firsthand the positive impact of the President’s policies on the federal capital territory.
“I can tell you that Mr. President has done very, very well, particularly as it concerns the Federal Capital Territory,”
“It has never happened before. Yesterday, I said the simple truth all of us who are critics have said that Abuja is not working, and now Abuja is working. Who has made it work? It’s Mr. President”, he said.
Wike emphasised that it is imperative for Nigerians to acknowledge and commend the president’s efforts, regardless of personal affiliations or differences.
“From the FCT, where I superintend by his mandate, you know that Mr. President has done very, very well. He’s unprecedented. You know the problem we have in this country is that even if you don’t like somebody as a person, the moment he does the good things, you should say yes, I’m not in good terms with him, I don’t like him. However, he’s doing well or he has done well.
“Opposition does not necessarily mean anything good, you say it’s bad. Mr. President has done tremendously well and that’s why, you see, every look and corner of this country, everybody says, give him that opportunity again. And in the next two years, four years, you’ll see what is going to happen.
Wike also expressed his gratitude to the President for the opportunity to serve and be part of history-making.
“For us, we are just appointees. We are not elected by the people. He’s the only president that has appointed us, and we want to thank almighty God that we have that opportunity to be part of history making”, he said.
On the road projects inspected, the Minister expressed satisfaction with the progress of work, noting that the contractors are doing their best to deliver quality infrastructure.
He assured that the FCT Administration is committed to providing quality infrastructure for the residents of Abuja.
“The people of Abuja deserve the best, and we will do everything we can to make sure that we give them the best,” Wike added.
