Sequel to clamour for peaceful election in Anambra state, the former Presidential candidate of the Labour Party, LP, in 2023 general election, Mr Peter Obi, has called on citizens and political stakeholders to ensure a peaceful and transparent electoral process in the state.
In a press conference held at his residence in Agulu, Anaocha local government area of Anambra State, yesterday, Obi re-emphasized the need for citizens of voting age to turnout and exercise their franchise, urging political actors to respect the rule of law and prioritize the state’s peace and security.
Obi, who was also a former governor of the state, stressed that politicians must pursue their interests within the confines of the law.
“My interest in this Anambra 2025 governorship election is peace before, during and after the exercise. I want a peaceful, free and fair election. This election is for Ndi-Anambra and anyone that wins, win for the development of the state.
“All the contestants including the incumbent governor, Chukwuma Charles Soludo (APGA), Prince Nicholas Ukachukwu (APC) and my party’s candidate, Chief George Muoghalu (Labour Party) are my friends. I will vote for the candidate of my party and I urged every other card carrying residents in Anambra State to go out and vote for the candidate of their choice.
Obi called on the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, and security agencies to uphold their constitutional responsibilities by ensuring neutrality and professionalism during the electoral exercise.
