The Abdul Samad Rabi’u(ASR) Africa has conferred 40 mentees with “Abdul Samad Rabi’u Achievers Award” from its mentorship program in Al-Qalam University, Katsina state.
Nigerian PILOT learnt that the 3-month mentorship program, organized for students of the University ended with a closeout ceremony in the University.
The mentorship program, focused on 3 thematic areas including career, personal, and entrepreneurial development which provides an insight to the mentees through training on topical issues as well as experience sharing.
“The ASR Africa mentor program was a movement, an embodiment of hope for a more inclusive future conceived to address the stark under-representation of women in the stem field.”
Speaking at the event, the Vice Chancellor of the University, Prof. Nasir Musa Yauri lauded the Chairman of BUA Group and ASR Africa, Alhaji Abdul Samad Rabiu, for his tireless support to Tertiary Institutions in the country.
Prof Yauri acknowledged the 250Million ASR Africa Tertiary Education Grant(TEGS) awarded to the university for the 2022/2023 academic year, enhanced the quality of education at the institution. He thanked ASR Africa and the facilitators and assured them that the students have sufficient tools to reach their full potential.
In his remark, the Managing Director/CEO ASR Africa, Dr. Ubon Udoh, expressed appreciation to Al’qalam University for giving ASR Africa a conducive platform to impact the lives of students and the University at large.
“The initiative is in line with the vision of Alhaji Abdul Samad Rabi’u to advance the educational sector and Human Capital development which cannot be overlooked as it enhances productivity, skills development, improved morale and innovation.” Dr. Udoh Stated.
He encouraged the mentees to utilise all they have learned from the three months mentorship programme and continue to engage as much as they could with the ASR Africa team whenever they feel like.
