Ayodele Akinpelu, a governance professional and project management expert, has been conferred with the distinguished title of Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Mentoring and Coaching (CIMC).
The Fellowship, which represents the highest membership category within the Institute, is granted only to distinguished professionals who have demonstrated exceptional commitment to mentoring excellence, leadership development, and ethical coaching practice.
CIMC, in a statement, said Akinpelu’s body of work over the years reflected the qualities of a visionary leader dedicated to nurturing talent and helping individuals and organisations achieve meaningful growth.
Her elevation followed a rigorous assessment of her achievements, including her contributions to shaping leadership frameworks, guiding emerging professionals, and supporting executive decision-makers through structured mentoring programmes. Many of her mentees, spread across business, academia, and the public sector, have consistently credited her with providing the clarity, confidence, and direction needed to navigate complex career pathways.
At the 2020 conferment ceremony, held virtually due to pandemic-related restrictions, the Institute commended Ayodele Akinpelu for her “unwavering dedication to the advancement of coaching and mentoring as critical pillars for national development.”
CIMC noted that her mentoring style, rooted in empathy, discipline, and strategic insight, continues to inspire both young and seasoned professionals.
In her response, Akinpelu expressed gratitude to the Institute for the honour and reaffirmed her commitment to strengthening Nigeria’s mentoring culture. She emphasised that in a rapidly evolving world, effective mentoring and coaching are indispensable tools for developing emotionally intelligent, innovative, and globally competitive leaders.
