The latest blackout makes it the tenth system collapse in 2024 and the first in November, after recording four grid failures in October.
Meanwhile, Jos Electricity Distribution Company, JED PLC, has attributed the current power outage in its franchise states, including Benue to power loss from the national grid.
JED, in a statement signed by its head of Corporate Communications, Dr Friday Adakole Elijah, on Tuesday, said the loss of power from the national grid occurred at about 1352 hours of Tuesday, 5th November, 2024.
Dr Elijah expressed hope that normal power supply to JED esteemed customers will be restored as soon as the grid supply is restored back to normalcy.
The statement reads in part: “The current outage being experienced within our franchise States is a result of loss of power supply from the national grid.
“The loss of power supply from the national grid occurred this afternoon at about 1352Hours of today, Tuesday, 5th November 2024, hence the loss of power supply on all our feeders.
“We hope to restore normal power supply to our esteemed customers as soon as the grid supply is restored back to normalcy”, the statement added.
