Unknown burglars in the early hours of Wednesday allegedly burgled various offices at the Edo State High Court premises, where they carted away motor parts, undisclosed amounts of money in some of the safes.
The Court workers were thrown into confusion when they resume work and discovered that thieves had burgled and looted their offices
Eyewitnesses said documents were scattered everywhere on the ground as the thieves allegedly operated till 3:30 am before they disappeared from the premises.
Police spokesman in the state, CSP Moses Yamu who confirmed the incident, disclosed that some security personnel at the court have been arrested in connection with the incident.
He said upon interrogation, the suspects confessed to assisting the thieves to cart away motor parts and the money, N200, 000.
Sources said that the stealing incident was the third time since the beginning of the year 2025, a situation that has confirmed the handiwork of the Security personnel who in all the incidents were fingered to have allegedly aided.
Some of the senior staff of the Court who spoke to Journalists on condition of anonymity said that the court seemingly have been taken over by thieves allegedly aided by the security personnel, disclosing that the stealing incident occurred under the watch of CCTV Camera and however appealed to the State Chief Judge, Justice Iyobosa Okungbowa to ensure that the security personnel pay dearly for their sins.
They said “We were subjected to paying for what was stolen when these same thieves allegedly carted away several items of the court and again another one occurred. We can’t pay for what we have not stolen for God sake.”
