The superintendent of Assemblies of God, Abuja South District, Reverend Kelechi Augustine, on Saturday celebrated his 50-years birthday in a grand style as friends, colleagues and well wishers gather together from within Abuja, Nasarawa State and other states to celebrate God’s faithfulness and also to make the event memorable.
The birthday celebration, which took place at Assemblies of God Masaka in Nasarawa State, Kelechi said it is the grace of God that has brought him thus far, because many of his mates are no longer alive today, but God has given him this golden grace to join those who had clocked the golden age.
Speaking with our correspondent concerning God’s faithfulness over his life, Augustine said, “He has preserved me till these days. In the ministry, I won’t by myself say I have achieved, but I will say I am achieving by the grace of God, because if I use the word achieved, it means I have completed my course. There is still left before me a great race to run.
“I know that in the past God has used us to do so many things; built churches at Assemblies of God Mararaba, Kuchingoro, Apo, Nyanya Holy Hill and presently at Masaka I. We are still hoping to do more for the Lord”.
In his 50 years of age, Reverend Kelechi Augustine said he has been in ministry for about 31 years, and have been in marriage for about 25 years, and so he has every reason to return all the glory to God almighty for bringing him thus far.
He appreciated people who turned out to celebrate with him, saying “I do not know the best word to use to appreciate them. I must say that these people have golden hearts. They left every other assignment to celebrate in my joy.
“I want to say that the God of Heaven would bless all the people that came for this program, and on the day of their own celebration, people will surround to honour them”.
Speaking concerning his family, the clergy said it is said that behind every successful man, there is a woman with a good brain. And his wife Reverend (Mrs) Rejoice Augustine has been very supportive in making his ministry successful.
“She has always been a backbone to me. She has never left me, no matter how difficult the ministry has been. Even when we had no house to live in, and we had to pass our nights in car, she was with me through the thick and the thin”.
As for his children, he said, “My children have always been supportive to my ministry, submissive and also trying their best to live exemplary life, which makes our gospel preaching easier for people to listen to. I must say that they are doing their best and they will continue to do more”.
