Federal Government has debunked news of a bomb explosion at Maiduguri Custodial Centre, MSCC, in Borno State.
In a statement signed by DCC Umar Abubakar, Public Relations Officer of Corrections, said that the fake report should be disregarded.
“The attention of the Nigerian Correctional Service, NCoS, has been drawn to an online report of a purported bomb explosion in Maiduguri Custodial Centre.
“The report is not true and misleading as the situation at the custodial centre is calm and stable,” the statement read.
The NCoS added that the inmates were continuing their treatment regime of rehabilitation programs without disruption and there was no security breach at any of its Custodial centres across the country.
A report by published on April 20, 2025 by Sahara Reporters said there had been an explosion that rocked the Maximum Security Custodial Centre, MaSCC, in Maiduguri on Sunday night, April 20, 2025, around 9 pm, sparking a fire in the solitary confinement cell where Charles Okah, a prominent detainee, has been held since mid-March.
