Benue State governor, Rev Fr Hyacinth Alia, has called on the people of the state to embrace the state symbols with pride and enthusiasm.
Governor who made the call during the grand finale and unveiling of the symbols on Sunday in Makurdi, urged the people to use them to promote the state’s identity and culture, and to inspire others to do the same.
“Now, my dear people, let us talk about why these symbols are important. They represent the very essence of who we are as a people. They reflect our values, our culture, and our history, they are a reminder of our struggles and our triumphs, and they inspire us to strive for greatness. They are a symbol of our unity and our diversity, and they remind us that we are stronger together than we are apart.
“The state symbols are also an important tool for promoting our state’s Identity and culture. They will be used to brand our state, to attract tourists and investors, and to showcase our rich cultural heritage to the world.
“Let us wear them on our sleeves, literally and figuratively, and let us show the world what it means to be a true Benue state citizen
“But, let us always remember that the state symbols are not just important for their aesthetic value or their promotional potential. They are also a reminder of our responsibility to our state and to our great country Nigeria. They remind us that we are all stakeholders in the development of our state, and that we all have a role to play in shaping its future,” the governor stressed.
He said the symbols are a gift to the state and to the people, adding that they are a reminder of the collective identity and values that inspire the people to strive for greatness.
“They are a symbol of our unity and our diversity, and they remind us that we are stronger together than we are apart.
“They remind us that we have a rich cultural heritage, and that we have a responsibility to preserve it for future generations. The symbols are a beacon of hope for the future.
“Let us therefore celebrate this milestone with pride and enthusiasm. Let us constantly remind ourselves of our resilience and our determination. Let us be inspired to be strong, to be courageous, and to be proud of who we are”, he added.
