Governor Dikko Umaru Radda of Katsina State has fulfilled his promise to the people of Mantau community in Malumfashi Local Government Area by disbursing ₦52 million and food items as relief support to victims of a recent banditry attack.
The Governor’s intervention follows his earlier visit to the community where he assured residents of government assistance to help them rebuild their lives.
During the distribution exercise held on Saturday, a committee led by the Special Adviser on Security and Community Watch, Yusuf Ibrahim Safana, delivered cash support and food items to affected households. Each resident of Mantau received ₦500,000 as initial relief, while those abducted and later released were given ₦100,000 each. Families of those who lost loved ones also received ₦200,000 and bags of rice and maize as part of the government’s support package.
Speaking on behalf of Governor Radda, Yusuf Ibrahim Safana said the intervention was part of the administration’s commitment to stand by victims of insecurity. “Governor Radda is deeply concerned about what happened in Mantau and has directed that every affected person must receive support to rebuild their lives. This gesture is not just about money but about showing that government cares and will not abandon its people in their time of need,” he stated. Safana further urged residents to remain vigilant, cooperate with security operatives and continue praying for lasting peace.
Business owners whose shops were burnt during the attack were given ₦500,000 each to restart their businesses, while residents whose houses were destroyed were allocated ₦2 million each for reconstruction. The government explained that these measures were aimed at restoring livelihoods; rebuilding confidence and helping the community recover from the devastating impact of the attack.
The Galadiman Katsina, Justice Sadiq Mahuta, commended Governor Radda for what he described as “a mark of true leadership.” He called on residents to continue praying for peace and to cooperate with security agencies in the fight against banditry. The Chairman of Malumfashi Local Government also praised the Governor for keeping his word, noting that such support would help the people “stand on their feet again.”
