Green Sahara Farms has commended the leadership of Plateau State as the region celebrates the launch of Africa’s first Climate Assembly, a landmark achievement in participatory climate governance on the continent.
The organization on Monday extended its recognition to Governor Caleb Muftwang, Commissioner for Environment Peter Gwom, and the entire ACRESAL Plateau State team for their central role in the development and successful rollout of the Assembly.
The initiative is grounded in a comprehensive policy draft developed by ACRESAL Plateau State, which Green Sahara Farms describes as the foundation of this historic milestone.
The Board and Management of Green Sahara Farms highlighted the exceptional dedication demonstrated by the Plateau State government in bringing this ambitious vision to life. They also acknowledged the support of technical consultants including Fundlink Aid International, whose collaboration alongside the Ministry of Environment has resulted in a pioneering model of climate action.
“Today’s inauguration stands as testament to Plateau State’s unwavering commitment to environmental leadership,” said Aisha Zannah, Communications Lead at Green Sahara Farms. “Governor Muftwang’s administration has shown remarkable foresight in prioritizing this inclusive approach to climate action, while Commissioner Gwom’s hands-on leadership and ACRESAL Plateau State’s policy expertise have been instrumental in turning this vision into reality,” she added.
The launch of the Climate Assembly signals a new era of inclusive and locally driven environmental policy in Africa, with Plateau State now positioned as a continental model for climate governance.
