As Nigerians commemorate the 2025 Democracy Day, the Coordinator of RENEWED HOPE ADVOCATES OF NIGERIA, Comrade Prince Miaphen, has extended heartfelt congratulations to all Nigerians for their collective resilience in sustaining democratic governance, while praising the harmonious working relationship between President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the President of the Senate, Senator Godswill Obot Akpabio as a shining example of executive-legislative synergy that has positively impacted the implementation of national policy.
In a statement issued on behalf of the organization in Abuja, Comrade Miaphen stated that the RENEWED HOPE ADVOCATES OF NIGERIA had adopted the theme “Executive-Legislative Synergy: A Foundation for Sustained Democracy and Development” for its 2025 Democracy Day celebration, to draw attention to the critical role of mutual respect, unity of purpose and collaboration between the arms of government in advancing national development.
He said that under President Tinubu’s administration, Nigeria has witnessed a new era of legislative-executive cooperation—especially between the Presidency and the Senate—unparalleled in recent political history.
He praised the Senate President, Sen. Godswill Akpabio, for providing patriotic, mature and visionary leadership to the 10th National Assembly, aligning seamlessly with the core goals of the Renewed Hope Agenda.
“There is no doubt that the current synergy between President Bola Tinubu and Senate President Godswill Akpabio has been instrumental to the stability of government and the swift implementation of key reform policies.
Unlike in previous administrations when inter-arm rivalry disrupted governance and hampered policy harmonization, today we are seeing a smooth, coordinated drive towards Nigeria’s development,” Miaphen remarked.
Comrade Miaphen noted that in the past, discord between the legislature and executive frequently led to legislative gridlock, budget delays, and aborted reforms—undermining public confidence in democracy.
He emphasized that the maturity and mutual understanding exhibited by President Tinubu and Senate President Akpabio had ensured not only smoother passage of executive bills but also swift legislative oversight of reforms critical to reviving Nigeria’s economy.
He highlighted landmark legislations and policy alignments made possible through this synergy, including the early passage of the national budget, supportive legislation for the economic reform agenda, tax reforms, investment protection frameworks, and the facilitation of critical infrastructure bills—all aimed at addressing Nigeria’s long-term developmental goals.
Miaphen also noted that the Tinubu-Akpabio partnership had facilitated bold economic reforms, such as the removal of fuel subsidies and foreign exchange unification, as well as social investment schemes to cushion the effects of these policies.
According to him, these initiatives would have been more difficult to actualize under a hostile legislative environment.
He stated further, “The Senate under Akpabio has shown tremendous cooperation with President Tinubu’s government without being subservient.
