Armed men have reportedly abducted an inspector of the Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC, Nathaniel Terwanger Kumashe in Benue State.
The incident which was disclosed to newsmen on phone by his uncle who was Special Adviser to the state Governor on Transportation, Chief Yimam Aboh, took.place on Wednesday night at about 10:00 pm.
The armed men who fired gunshots to scare his family members and neighbours abducted the victim from his country home in Tse Aboh, Uchi-Mbakor in Tarka LGA as he returned to his house from the wake-keep of his late cousin who is to be buried today.
Youths in the community immediately launched a search throughout the night but the gunmen were fast gone.
Aboh said personnel of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC joined in the search operation while the police have visited the community after the incident.
Reports however indicated that he may have been moved to one of the kidnapper’s hideouts in neighbouring Guma Local Government Area of the State.
When contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO of the state Police Command, CSP, Sewuese Anene, referred our correspondent to the Road Safety Sector Command as she said she was not aware of the incident.
The Public Relations Officer for Road Safety in the State, Ngozi Ahula, when contacted, said the matter has been reported to the police.
