The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced that over 9.8 million Nigerians completed online pre‑registrations during the first quarter of its ongoing Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise.
According to the Commission, more than 2.5 million registrations have been fully completed through both online and in‑person processes, reflecting strong public participation in strengthening the country’s voters’ register.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, the Director of Voter Education and Publicity, Victoria Eta‑Messi, disclosed that of the fully completed registrations, 1,503,832 were processed online, while 1,068,222 were finalized physically at registration centers across the country as of 28 November 2025.
She noted that INEC will commence the Display of the Register of Voters for Claims and Objections from 15 to 21 December 2025 at Local Government Offices where the registrations took place. The Commission urged all eligible citizens, particularly those who registered, transferred, or updated their information during this phase, to take advantage of the statutory window to verify their details, report inaccuracies, and highlight entries of ineligible or deceased persons.
Eta‑Messi emphasized that active public participation in this process is crucial for ensuring the accuracy and integrity of the national Register of Voters.
Meanwhile, she disclosed that the CVR exercise in Anambra State and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) remains suspended due to ongoing electoral activities in both locations. She added that the second phase of the CVR exercise will resume on 5 January 2026, while new dates for the resumption of the exercise in Anambra and the FCT will be communicated in due course.
INEC reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining a credible, inclusive, and transparent Register of Voters, and called on Nigerians to continue cooperating as the Commission works to strengthen the country’s democracy.
