Former President Goodluck Jonathan has commended the management of Dom Communications Ltd, owners of the Nigerian Newsworld magazine and Nigerian Pilot newspaper for its vision and expansion by establishing two brand new digital broadcasting, Nigerian Pilot TV and Rapid FM.
The former president made this known yesterday when he received the top management staff of the Nigerian Pilot and Nigerian Pilot TV led by the Group Chairman/Publisher, Prince Dennis Sami, in his office in Abuja.
The statesman also reaffirmed his Eminent Person membership of the media group, a premium award conferred on very important and valued personalities with a long term relationship with the organisation.
President Jonathan who is an Eminent Member of the media group, acknowledged the growth and progress of the Nigerian Pilot, an offshoot of the Nigerian Newsworld magazine, and expressed satisfaction with the company for its vision and expansion.
According to the statesman, “It is good to know that you started as a magazine, started the Nigerian Pilot newspaper and now you have made significant progress by adding digital television and radio broadcasting stations”.
He noted that “the media industry is evolving rapidly. The online media is fast phasing out the magazine and now even the newspapers are facing more threats as a result of the speed of digital delivery of news to a wider global audience.
“That is why many newspapers are delving into television and radio broadcasting, so for you to have embraced this is a positive development”, he said.
According to him, he was impressed to see the young looking professional management staff of the company behind the progress of the company.
In his words, “whenever I see the younger ones doing well in business and other endeavours, I feel happy because the future belongs to them; our own time has passed”.
He therefore saluted the courage and resilience of the publisher, Sami, especially for his ability to sustain the company despite its capital intensive nature, as well as odds in the sector and economy to the point of expansion.
Earlier in his remark, the Group Chairman/Publisher, Sami, expressed the gratitude of the management of the company to the former president for granting them audience despite his tight schedules.
“Your Excellency, Sir, we came here to primarily express our profound appreciation to you for your goodwill and support over the years since you became an Eminent Member of our brand since 2004.
“Secondly, we are also here to brief you about the progress we have made in recent time, especially the successful take off of the Nigerian Pilot TV that is currently streaming live on youtube, while we are working on modalities to get DSTV Belt to put us on the global live streaming”, the pusher said.
The publisher passionately spoke to the host that, “as a media organization, we will continue to promote your legacy and ideals”.
The Eminent Person membership is an ongoing special series of the Nigerian Pilot group as the media organization will continue to unfold other members in subsequent editions.
