Journalists in Baúchi State in collaboration with the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) are working tirelessly to reduce the rate of open defecation in the state.
Already a team of journalists in Bauchi State have embarked on a fact-finding mission to assess the high numbers of open defecation in various communities in the state which was sponsored by the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), aims to promote sanitation and hygiene in the state.
According to the Team Leader, Mr. Ishola Michael Adeyemi who spoke to Journalists yesterday explained that the exercise was designed to access the work done so far in making Bauchi State open defecation free, hence the need to visit various communities and interact with community leaders to assess the progress made so far.
It could be recalled that the State was recently declared open defecation free by the relevant authorities. The state government has been working tirelessly to ensure that all communities in the state have access to safe and hygienic toilet facilities.
While the declaration of Bauchi State as open defecation free is a significant achievement, there are still challenges to be addressed.
The fact-finding mission aims to identify areas that require further intervention and provide recommendations for improvement.
UNICEF has been playing a crucial role in promoting sanitation and hygiene in Bauchi State, the organization has been providing technical and financial support to the state government to ensure that all communities have access to safe and hygienic toilet facilities.
