Katsina State Government has flagged off the disbursement of ₦2billion to flood victims and launched the second phase of rice distribution to vulnerable groups.
Nigerian PILOT learnt that 3,850 bags of 25kg rice, was donated by the bank of industries BOI and distributed to vulnerable individuals across the state.
The ₦2billion fund donation is earmarked to assist flood victims in rebuilding their homes and to restore livelihoods across the affected communities in State.
Governor Radda, while expressing gratitude to BOI, recalled the bank’s previous donation of food items and urged the beneficiaries to utilize the rice for its intended purpose and refrain from selling the donated items. He emphasized the importance of collective effort in addressing the needs of the less privileged in the society.
The rice distribution, overseen by the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), targets internally displaced persons, women, and individuals with special needs across all 34 local government areas of Katsina State.
SEMA Executive Secretary, Hajia Binta Husaini Dangani, highlighted that beneficiaries were carefully selected to ensure the aid reaches those most in need.
“Significant achievements since its establishment 12 years ago, including the execution of 74 various support programmes for vulnerable populations from June 2023, the initiatives have been made possible through collaborations with donor agencies and support from both federal and state governments.” Dangani stated
