The Katsina State Police Command has successfully thwarted an armed bandits’ attack on Ruwan Doruwa village, in Dutsinma Local Government Area, and neutralized seven suspected bandits. The operation also resulted in the recovery of 109 animals believed to have been rustled by the attackers.
According to a police press release, the incident occurred on the 18 January 2025, when a distress call was received around 9:00 AM reporting that armed bandits, armed with AK-47 rifles, were attacking the village.
The Dutsinma Divisional Police Officer (DPO) quickly mobilized personnel from the police, military, Department of State Services (DSS), Katsina State Security and Civilian Watch Corps (KTSCWC), and local vigilantes to respond to the scene.
Upon arrival, the security forces engaged the bandits in a fierce gun battle. Seven bandits were reportedly neutralized, while others fled the area with various injuries, abandoning the animals they had rustled. The recovered livestock included 61 cows, 44 sheep, two donkeys, one goat, and one dog.
Katsina State Commissioner of Police, CP Aliyu Abubakar Musa, praised the bravery and professionalism of the operatives involved in the successful operation. He emphasized the police command’s ongoing commitment to ensuring the safety of citizens and urged the public to continue providing valuable information to aid in the fight against crime.
The police have continued to intensify efforts against banditry and other forms of criminality in the region.
