KOGI State Government has awarded a contract and handed over a 25-hectare site for the construction of an Ultra-Modern Lokoja International Market to the contractor, Sazak Acres Bilogue Company (SABC) Limited.
At a brief Handing-over and Taking-over ceremony on the project site on Hassan Katsina road, Crusher Area in Lokoja, Governor Ododo said the contract award went through due diligence and value for money.
The governor who was represented by the state Commissioner for Urban Development, Abanika Taiye said the project was part of his administration’s commitment to create a conducive business environment for economic growth of the state.
He further noted that the project, to be delivered in 36 months, was in line with his administration’s commitment to establishing laudable and economically viable concerns of international standard that would make the state a business hub country.
Governor Ododo advised the contractor to be transparent, diligent and ensure strict adherence to the contract specifications and the Bill of Quantity as the government would not condone shoddy jobs.
Also speaking, the Commissioner for Commerce and Industry, Mohammed Mukhtar described the project as a viable one put in place by Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo to put smiles on the faces of the people.
Mukhtar stressed that the contractor, SABC, emerged the most responsive from the numerous contractors that competed for the job and urged it to deliver the project in conformity with the “GYB Standard” for which the state is known.
