In a decisive military operation spanning three days, the Nigerian Air Force, NAF, bombed terrorist elements operating in Niger State, dealing heavy blows in the ongoing fight against insecurity.
The NAF said the airstrikes, conducted under Operation FANSAN YAMMA Sector 1, took place from 24 to 26 June, and targeted terrorists responsible for recent violence and cattle rustling in the Kakihun and Kumbashi communities.
According to Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, Director of Public Relations and Information at NAF Headquarters, the operation was executed following “credible intelligence, with inter-service and inter-agency cooperation,” which enabled the NAF to “identify terrorist activities involving attacks and cattle rustling.” He further noted that “swiftly deploying air assets, the Air Component executed multiple waves of precision strikes that neutralized scores of terrorists, destroyed their logistics, and disrupted regrouping efforts.”
The operation underscored the NAF’s professionalism and its ability to respond rapidly in support of ground troops. “The operation demonstrated NAF’s professionalism, rapid response capability, and strong coordination with ground forces and other agencies,” Ejodame emphasized.
The Nigerian Air Force reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding Nigerian lives and property, pledging to continue its efforts in securing lasting peace. “The Nigerian Air Force remains resolutely committed to protecting the lives and property of all Nigerians and ensuring lasting peace across the country,” Ejodame stated.
