The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has said it is committed to boosting learning in secondary schools across Nasarawa State calling for an increased focus especially in rural areas.
Executive Chairman of the Commission, Amb Timothy Kasuwa who stated this in Lafia, Monday advocated for due diligence in the education sector by deploying qualifying teaching staff where needed.
According to the TSC boss, , Nasarawa is setting the pace adding that in Nasarawa, about seven hundred and eighty newly recruited teachers across the 13 Local Government Areas of the state have been posted to the rural areas to boost teaching.
He explained that equitable posting of the teachers reflect the determination of Governor Abdullahi Sule’s administration to ensure all-inclusive quality education in the state.
The Executive Chairman said the management of the commission is committed to delivering on the mandate given to them by the leadership of the state Governor.
Amb.Kasuwa further explained that, “We came with the mandate to transform the TSC, ensuring that there is transparency in all we are doing, especially the recruitment, posting, and all other things surrounding the exercise.
“The governor gave the Commission the mandate to collaborate with the Ministry of Education to carry out a joint exercise in terms of posting teachers to various schools.
“Initially, we were told to realise names of the successful candidate to various zonal offices across the state for posting but I said no, I insisted that we have their records and names of all the schools in the state. That is how the committee sat down and carried out the posting to all schools in the state.
“We don’t want to see teachers being posted only in the city centres, we want them to go to rural areas also to ensure our children are properly taught,” Amb. Kasuwa noted.
The Executive Chairman, while charging the newly recruited teachers to resume to their areas of assignments, urged them to work hard to justify the effort of the Governor toward repositioning the education sector.
He commended Gov Abdullahi Sule for prioritizing the education sector, particularly for insisting that qualified teachers were recruited.
