Nigeria Immigration Service, NIS, has officially launched its 3rd Nationwide Sensitization and Awareness Campaign Against Corruption 2025.
According to a statement issued by ACI Akinsola Akinlabi, the Service Public Relations Officer, the event which held in Abuja yesterday was themed; “Increased Digitalization and Consolidated Innovations for Efficient and Transparent Services.”
In her opening remarks, the Comptroller General, Kemi Nandap, reaffirmed the NIS commitment to leveraging digitalization and innovative solutions to enhance efficiency and transparency.
Nandap emphasized that technology-driven processes such as the Contactless Passport Application System and the soon-to-be introduced e-Visa channel will significantly reduce bureaucratic bottlenecks and minimize opportunities for corrupt practices.
She further affirmed the Service’ strategic partnerships with key anti-corruption agencies, including SERVICOM, the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission, ICPC, and the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, to reinforce internal control mechanisms and uphold ethical standards.
Also, the Director General of the Presidential Enabling Business Environment Council, PEBEC, Princess Zahrah Mustapha Audu while speaking on the initiative emphasized that, “Corruption remains a major impediment to economic growth and ease of doing business, and this campaign was a significant step towards fostering a service-driven immigration system that supports National development.”
In the same vein, Mrs. Nnena Akajemeli, National Coordinator and Chief Executive of SERVICOM and the representative of the Director General Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission, ICPC, Mr. Demola Bakare, applauded the Service for prioritizing transparency and efficiency in service delivery through its anti-corruption campaign.
They also highlighted key areas for improvement while reiterating their commitment to supporting NIS in delivering efficient, fair, and customer-friendly services that uphold integrity and professionalism.
The event was also attended by AA. Sanusi representing DG, DSS, DCG A.V. Benson representing CG, Correctional Service, Georgina Umaru representing DG, NACTAL, Gregory A. Itotoh representing CG, Customs Service, Ambassador SM Goni representing DG, NIA, ACG MB Ogar representing CG, NSCDC, and AIG US Nadada representing Inspector General, Nigeria Police Force.
