NSCDC commits to protecting Nigeria's creative sector as a critical national asset.

Commandant, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Command, Dr. Olusola Odumosu, has emphasised that insurance was extremely important for Officers and men of the Command because of the high risk nature of their job and the unique challenges they face in the line of duty.
Odumosu, made this statement at a One-Day sensitization workshop organised by the Insurance Unit of the Command for personnel at the Command’s Headquarters, Wuse Zone 5 Abuja.
In a press release signed by DSC Monica Ojobi, Ag. FCT CDPRO, he explained that as a Paramilitary organisation, it was imperative to educate and enlighten personnel on certain insurance schemes that government has put in place, like life, accident, hazard or investment-linked plans which provide savings or pension components that support them during and after retirement.
He further explained, “Government as part of their moral and legal duty have put in place policies to protect those who protect society by providing adequate insurance coverage as a key part of occupational welfare and human rights.
“As a full-fledged Paramilitary organisation, our officers often operate in hazardous environments, managing civil unrest, combating insurgency, banditry, heavily armed pipeline vandals, and criminals with dangerous weapons or materials.
“Insurance provides financial protection in case of injury, disability or death arising from duty-related incidents, and ensures that the family is not left financially stranded.”
He lauded the Commandant General, NSCDC, Prof. Ahmed Abubakar Audi, for placing priority on the welfare of personnel through the implementation of various insurance interventions and support nationwide, the issuance of cheques worth hundreds of millions to fallen heroes and accident victims within the Corps.
The Commandant thanked the CG for providing quality leadership and an enabling ground for the insurance unit to thrive since his assumption of office, where he ensures that the insurance benefits of officers and men are paid promptly.
The FCT boss charged all Heads of Departments and Units, Area Commanders, and Divisional Officers in attendance to escalate the knowledge to their personnel appropriately so that no one was deprived or left behind.
He called on insurance operators to continue to offer their services with integrity, openness, and transparency.
He also urged them to solve the bureaucratic bottleneck Officers usually encounter while processing their insurance benefits and at the same time avail them with valid information that could assist them in making informed decisions towards insurance.
The one day sensitization workshop drew participants from Area Commands, Divisions, Heads of Departments, and Units Heads.
