Operatives of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Plateau State have arrested a man allegedly found with a firearm within the premises of a church in Bokkos Local Government Area of the state.
The suspect, whose identity remains undisclosed, was apprehended on Sunday morning at about 8:30 a.m. during a routine patrol by NSCDC operatives around the church compound.
Our correspondent reports that some communities in Bokkos were recently attacked by gunmen leading to the death of several persons.
It was further gathered that the suspect could not provide any satisfactory explanation or legal documentation for the gun in his possession.
Spokesperson of the Plateau state Civil Defense Command, ASP NR Rimvyok confirmed the arrest of the man in a phone conversation with our correspondent in Jos saying that investigation is ongoing.
