Commandant, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Command, Dr. Olusola Odumosu, has categorically warned vandals in Abuja to steer clear crash barriers being mounted across the metropolis by the FCT Administration.
Odumosu, in a statement issued by DSC Monica Ojobi, Ag. FCT CDPRO, said the crash barriers were not just for beautification of the city but for the protection of lives of road users across the city centre and will do everything possible to ensure their protection.
The FCT Command boss, said as the lead agency saddled with the responsibility of protecting Critical National Assets and Infrastructure in the FCT, personnel on 24 hours patrol were intensifying their strategies to ensure the protection of the crash barriers and other national assets and infrastructure like manhole covers, street lights poles, armoured cables, bridge enforcement aluminum, telecommunication equipments, water pipes, electrical cables amongst others.
He clearly warned the leadership of the pantaker markets across the FCT to ensure that non of those items are found or sold in their markets or stand the risk of being shut down completely.
He charged those over seeing the markets to continue to adhere strictly to approved guidelines handed over to them by the FCT Security Council during the last profiling of the markets, stating that monitoring and regulation of the markets was still enforced.
Commandant Odumosu, advice all Heads of pantaker markets to warn their members not to violate lay down rules else be ready to face the sanctions therein.
He, reiterated that his men were determined to flush out vandals from the city centre through renewed intensified surveillance and 24 hour patrol.
