Ondo State House of Assembly has scheduled the screening exercise for the twelve commissioner -nominees forwarded by the state governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, for today and continues through Monday, June 23, 2025.
This development followed a plenary session presided over by the speaker, Olamide Oladiji, during which the Clerk of the House, Jaiyeola Benjamin, read the governor’s letter titled “Requesting for Confirmation of Commissioners-Nominees”. The request was made in accordance with Section 192 (1 & 2) of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (as amended).
The letter contained the names of twelve nominees for the position of commissioners.
Following the reading of the letter, the Majority Leader, Chief Olatunji Oshati moved that the nomination request be referred to the Committee of the Whole House for in-depth scrutiny. The motion was seconded by Dr Christopher Ogunlana, representing Irele Constituency.
The Assembly directed all nominees to appear with valid certificates and updated copies of curriculum vitae of at least 40 copies each for proper documentation and vetting.
The Speaker noted “In line with Section 192(1 & 2) of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999 (as amended), it will interest you to note that the process of screening the commissioner- nominees forwarded by Mr Governor, Dr Lucky Aiyedatiwa, shall be undertaken by the Committee of the Whole House under my humble leadership.
“I assure the people of Ondo State that, as their representatives, we shall conduct a thorough screening and report back as soon as possible.”
The dates of the screening include Thursday, June 19,2025 for Hon. Sunday Olajide, Alhaji Amidu Takuro, Mr Olaolu Akindolire and Prof. Igbekele Ajibefun while on June 20, Dr Oluwaseun Osamaye, Adewale Akinlosotu, Ayodele Akande, and Dr Tob Loko will be screened.
Furthermore on Monday, June 23, Mr Idowu Ajanaku, Engr. Alabi Johnson, Engr. Ayorinde Abiola Olawoye, and Mr Omoyofunmi Segun Henry will be screened.
