Association of Local Government of Nigeria, ALGON in Osun State yesterday called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to urgently intervene into the Local Government crisis in the state.
The Osun ALGON also appealed to the Accountant-General of the Federation, Federal Ministry of Finance to urgently do what is right.
According to the Osun State Chairman of the ALGON (PDP) Hon Sarafadeen Awotunde while addressing journalists at a press conference Organised at the ALGON Conference room, State Secretariat, “What the CBN Osun Controller has done was illegal by releasing even one form to those imposters”.
Awotunde said, they went to the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, on Monday when they were informed that, some dismissed YES/No APC had gone to get a form on LG account, but they were not attended to by the CBN officials.
“We told the person that the civil servants, head of local government and our people want to meet with the head of CBN in Osogbo.
“We talked to the person we met at the CBN Osogbo about it, he promised to relay our message to the Controller General of CBN about it but we are sure the CG knew the rightful owner of the form and legally backed council Chairmen who are eligible to append their signatures. While we settle that one they gave us 8am today (Tuesday) to come to their office.
“We arrived at the CBN before 8 o’clock to wait for the controller, we later learned that she was inside her office, probably she went through the back door to her office and doesn’t want to attend to us, we are harmless, those of us who are eligible for the form, we are about six of us.
“After a while, they started rushing to close the gate on the instruction of the controller. There was bad behavior from a lady who is a security operative from the MOPOL department, she uttered words that were unprofessional, we recorded her voice and we will take her matter up in due time. We informed her that probably she is not aware of the Appeal Court verdict which affirmed the sacking of Yes/No chairmen.
“The CTC of the Appeal verdict was with me and I handed over it to them, one of the private security personnel was marching in the court paper, it is so unfortunate, they even barricaded the CBN that nobody can stay there and we left” Awotunde explained.
The ALGON Chairman who condemned the incident and described it as illegal, said, CBN did not need to embarrass itself over the matter, while they are calling for the transfer of the Osun Controller-General of the CBN if she feel she can’t do what is right.
“We the new elected chairmen are silent and we don’t make trouble, we appreciate all our civil servants, we don’t want anarchy, chaos in Osun State but enough is enough.
“We are sure that our President who is our father is not aware of what they are doing in Osun State, we are appealing to the APC that if they rejoice when they won, try to have the spirit to concede to defeat, don’t become a bad loser, they are behaving as one.
“We appreciate our Governor Ademola Adeleke for the fatherly and mature roles he played during the imbroglio. What the CBN Osun Controller has done is illegal by releasing even one form to those imposters.
“Our father, President Tinubu recently mandated all the state governors to go and open an accounts for the local governments with only four signatories to the account which are HLA, duly elected Chairman, Director of Finance and another person to make four”, Awotunde added.
