Plateau state government yesterday said it’s set to host the North Central Public Hearing of the Constitution Review Committee of the Nigerian Senate
This was contained in a statement signed by Pharmacist John Chun Ezekiel the Director Liaison Directorate (NASS) PLSG, Abuja to Governor Caleb Mutfwang and made available to reporters in Jos .
According to the statement, the Executive Governor of Plateau State, Barr Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang is pleased to inform the general public of the upcoming North Central Public Hearing of the Constitution Review Committee of the Senate, Federal Republic of Nigeria, scheduled to hold on Friday, 4th and Saturday, 5th July, 2025.
The committee will receive presentations from various interest groups across the thematic areas proposed for amendment.
The statement reads that Thematic areas scheduled for review includes amongst others, the creation of state police as a critical component of our nation’s sub-national security, the proposed re-organisation of the traditional council, the proposed reserved seats—one each in the Senate and House of Representatives per state, as well as three exclusive seats for women in each State House of Assembly; the role of traditional rulers among other items.
The statement also reads that therefore we encourage women and members of the public to come out and actively participate in support of the constitutional review process.
