Abdullahi Hussaini, a vigilante leader in Wase local government Area of Plateau State, has vowed that they won’t surrender in the fight against bandits and kidnappers despite losing many members on Sunday.
Eyewitnesses told newsmen on Monday how over 70 vigilantes were killed in an ambush in the Kukawa community in Kanam and Bunyun village in Wase local government areas of the state.
Our correspondent gathered that hundreds of vigilantes grouped together to track down bandits to their hideouts due to the rampant activities of bandits and kidnappers in various villages of Wase LGA in recent years.
Reacting to the incident on Tuesday, the vigilante leader, who also participated in Sunday’s fight against the bandits, acknowledged the loss of members and the injury of many during the incident, adding that despite the challenges, “We will never surrender to the bandits and kidnappers.”
Hussaini explained that for the fight to end, it’s either the bandits leave Wase or repent, or they continue to fight them to the last breath, reiterating that “the casualties we recorded will not discourage us from continuing the fight against banditry in the Wase area. Death is inevitable; everyone will die. So, we’ll continue the fight.
He called on people across the country to pray for their success.
The vigilante leader advised people wherever they are in the country to stand firm against bandits, as their activities threaten to destroy the country.
