The Commissioner of Police, Imo State Command, CP Aboki Danjuma, has launched an intensive operation in collaboration with other security agencies and local vigilante groups to apprehend the hoodlums responsible for the attack and abduction of motorists at Amala Autonomous Community, Ngor-Okpala LGA, on December 7, 2025, and to rescue the kidnapped victims.
In a statement issued Monday, DSP Henry Okoye, Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in Imo, disclosed that preliminary findings revealed that at about 17:50hrs on the day of the incident, armed men emerged from a bush path in Amala, shot the driver of a Toyota Highlander Jeep (registration number SMK 514 BD), and abducted the occupants of a Lexus RS300 (registration number FSD 334 XA).
According to him, upon receiving the distress call, officers from the Ngor-Okpala Police Division swiftly mobilized to the scene, secured the area, and evacuated the injured victim to the hospital, where he was later confirmed dead.
He added: “Consequently, joint security operatives have commenced bush-combing, search-and-rescue, and suspect-tracking operations within the Amala forest axis and surrounding communities. Investigations have commenced with promising progress toward apprehending those responsible. The Imo State Police Command assures residents that all necessary resources are being deployed to rescue the victim and forestall future occurrences.”
The command further urged members of the public to remain calm and provide any information that may assist the ongoing operation to the nearest police station or via 0803 477 3600.
