The House of Representatives Southern Caucus through its Leader, Rep. Nicholas Mutu says it is in full support of the Tax Reform Bills currently under consideration in both chambers of the National Assembly.

The four bills were executive bills sent to Legislature on the 3rd of October by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu with a covering letter seeking expeditious passage of the bills.
Mutu at a press briefing on Abaja yesterday said the caucus, same as other caucuses has the obligation of receiving the executive bills and put them through legislative legislative process, mainly widespread dialogue with their various constituencies and other interest groups on the bills, so as to harness all available views for the House to take a final decision.
The Leader of the Southern Caucus of the House, Rep Nicholas Mutu, the longest serving member (unbroken since 1999) said the caucus is open to and consulting widely on ensuring that the bills are passed.
Another member of the caucus Rep Fred Agbedi in his contribution agreed with the Leader that the group welcomed the bill and in line with legislative practice is set to collate and articulated wider views on the bills
House Committee Chairman on Defence and caucus chairman Rep Babajimi Benson said during the question and answer session of the briefing that since the essence of lawmaking mainly involves making and amending bills amongst others, the caucus will sit with others with different views on the bills with a view to harmonizing a common position.
The 4 Tax Reform Bills had since landing at plenary t the NASS had proved controversial and had almost turned both the House of Representatives and the Senate into a North versus South Divide on the issue.
