The Acting Executive Chairman of the Federal Capital Territory Internal Revenue Service (FCT-IRS), Michael Ango, has assured staff of service that their welfare, professional growth, and service excellence remain his top priority.
He disclosed over the weekend when staff of FCT-IRS honoured him at an event in Abuja with the theme ‘A Night with Ango’, in recognition of his visionary and exemplary leadership.
In their tributes, the staff described him as a reform-driven leader whose initiatives have continued to reposition the Service for efficiency, professionalism, and sustainable growth.
Expressing appreciation for the recognition, Ango said he was humbled by the gesture and reaffirmed his resolve to build an organisation anchored on welfare, excellence, and integrity.
“I am deeply honoured and grateful for this show of love. When I assumed office, I made a promise to prioritise staff welfare, especially salary reviews and career progression. With God’s grace and your continued support, we will deliver on these commitments,” he said.
He outlined several reforms underway at the Service, including the introduction of a fully automated, merit-based promotion examination system, improved working conditions across tax offices, and the procurement of staff buses to ease transportation challenges.
Ango emphasised the importance of teamwork in achieving lasting institutional success, noting that the Service’s vision transcends individual contributions.
“Leaders will come and go, but the organisation will remain. What we build today should endure and become a legacy future generations will be proud to inherit,” he said.
He urged staff to remain united, dedicated, and optimistic as the FCT-IRS continues to implement reforms aimed at enhancing operational efficiency and productivity.
