Edo State Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Emperor Jarret Tenebe, has vowed to confront the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Asue Ighodalo in court over a libel suit instituted against him.
Speaking to reporters, Tenebe who described the case as an opportunity to expose the desperation of the PDP’s candidate and his financial malfeasance added that he cannot use him to make cheap money.
Tenebe alleged that Ighodalo, whom he claimed was drowning in debts following the recently concluded elections, had resorted to filling a N500million libel suit against him in an attempt to offset his financial liabilities. According to him, “Ighodalo is facing frustration”.
His words, “Ighodalo is broke and desperate”, Tenebe said. Continuing, he said, “Ighodalo thinks if he drags me to court with this frivolous case, it will help him recover from his post-election losses, unfortunately for him, I am ready to meet him in court”.
“He is running around Lagos looking for ‘pliable judges’ to handle his case. But will he succeed? Capital NO! It’s all exercise in futility”.
Tenebe who described the libel case as a ‘good distraction’, also expressed confidence that it would give him the platform to expose the PDP candidate’s questionable character and financial malfeasance.
“The only case Asue Ighodalo is pursuing now is this defamatory suit. He has abandoned his governorship election petition tribunal and running after how he can enrich himself with this libel case. I only see it as an opportunity to further expose him to the world”, Tenebe added.
