Nigeria’s Flying Eagles are being motivated to go all out in today’s final of the West African Football Union WAFU-B Under 20 tournament against the Black Satellites of Ghana.
As a way of motivation before the final, Super Eagles’ striker Taiwo Awoniyi doled out the sum N2.5m to the Nigerian Under 20 boys while Lagos State FA chairman Haji Gafar Liameed donated N1m.
Both gestures come on the heels of those of Super Eagles’ players Moses Simon and Wilfred Ndidi who donated N2m each to the coach Aliyu Zubairu’s side.
Other well meaning Nigerians also came through for the Flying Eagles before their semifinal triumph over their Nigerien opponents last Sunday.
Deputy Senate President Ibrahim Barua and football enthusiast Muritala Tafidah donated N5M each to the team.
Nigeria defeated Niger Republic 3-1 in the last four tie which earned the country a berth at the 2025 Africa U-20 Cup of Nations in South Africa.
The WAFU Under 20 final between the Eagles and Satellites will kick off at 8pm.
