As part of efforts to enhance Nigeria’s Civil Service, the Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, supported by the United Nations Development Programme, UNDP, has organized a pioneering Study Tour to Singapore for the Heads of Civil Service from Nigeria’s 36 States and the Federal Capital Territory, FCT.
Nigerian Pilot reports that the tour will last from January 23-26.
Didi Walson-Jack, Nigeria’s Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, will lead a delegation of 20 Heads of Service on a transformative learning experience designed to adopt and tailor Singapore’s world-renowned Public Service model for Nigeria’s use, a statement on Sunday by Eno Olotu, Director of Information and Public Relations noted.
The initiative is part of a two-phase strategy aimed at boosting the efficiency, accountability, and innovation of Nigeria’s Civil Service, the statement added.
Olotu noted that the objectives of the tour are firmly aligned with the Renewed Hope Agenda, and that it will focus on capacity-building, strengthening collaboration between the Federal and State Civil Services, and driving the full implementation of the Federal Civil Service Strategy and Implementation Plan, FCSSIP 25.
She emphasized that the study tour exemplifies the Federal Government’s commitment to modernizing Nigeria’s Public Service by adopting international best practices in governance, digital transformation, policy formulation, and fostering public-private partnerships.
The delegation will gain first-hand insight into Singapore’s governance systems, resource management, and operational models, with key visits to institutions such as the Public Service Division, Civil Service College, and the UNDP-supported Global Centre for Public Service Excellence, among others.
In terms of intent, the Study Tour signals the Federal Government’s determination to lead Nigeria’s Civil Service into a future of enhanced efficiency and world-class governance practices.
