The Kaduna State Police Command has commenced joint anti-crime patrol and monitoring of the Kaduna-Abuja Highway as part of proactive measures to ensure safety during the festive season and beyond.
The command’s spokesperson, DSP Mansir Hassan, disclosed this in a statement on Monday, noting that the operation followed directives from the Inspector-General of Police (I-G), Kayode Egbetekun, to guarantee a hitch-free yuletide.
Hassan explained that the Commissioner of Police, Rabiu Muhammad, alongside all tactical commanders under the command, conducted the patrol to secure the busy highway on a 24-hour basis. He added that the exercise was carried out in collaboration with the Commissioner of Police, Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Command, reinforcing inter-command cooperation and strengthening security along the major transit corridor to the northern region.
He further stated that the operation covered border areas between Kaduna State and the FCT, aimed at deterring criminal activities, boosting visibility policing, and reassuring commuters that adequate security had been provided before, during, and after the festive season.
According to Hassan, the Commissioner of Police emphasized the command’s commitment to safeguarding commuters, residents, and travelers. He assured that patrols and surveillance would be sustained throughout the yuletide and beyond to prevent criminal activity.
The CP also applauded the military and other security agencies for their immense contributions in policing the highway. He cautioned individuals who spread misleading information on social media to desist, warning that they would face the full wrath of the law if found culpable.
The commissioner solicited public cooperation, stressing that collective effort was vital to achieving success in securing the highway and ensuring peace during the festive period. NÀN
