In a remarkable display of people-centered leadership and commitment to human capital development, Hon. Unyime Idem, member representing Ukanafun/Oruk Anam Federal Constituency and Chairman of the House Committee on Public Procurement, has demonstrated his passion for youth empowerment by sponsoring four Akwa Ibom indigenes for advanced professional training in the People’s Republic of China.
The beneficiaries, Peter Saturday Peter, Ndifreke Sunday Otu, Anietie Mark Etuk, and Emmanson Aniekan Eno, form part of the 18th batch of participants in Rep. Idem’s Foreign Skills and Human Capital Development Programme.
The initiative, a cornerstone of his constituency agenda, seeks to equip 100 Akwa Ibom youths with globally relevant technical and digital competencies that position them for international competitiveness.
The four participants will undergo specialized training in Eco-Leather Technology and Digital Security, two fields currently reshaping industrial innovation and global employment landscapes.

The programme, fully funded by Rep. Idem, highlights his vision of preparing Nigerian youths to meet the demands of the 21st-century economy through strategic exposure and international collaboration.
Speaking during the official send-off ceremony at the National Assembly Complex in Abuja, lead beneficiary Peter Saturday Peter described Rep. Idem as “a trademark of effective representation and a symbol of sustainable human capital development.”
He emphasized that the training curriculum is both transformative and future-focused, with modules tailored to boost innovation, creativity, and productivity.
“We are deeply grateful to Hon. Idem for this life-changing opportunity. This programme will not only enhance our technical knowledge but also broaden our perspective on how to apply these skills to uplift our communities and contribute to national growth,” Peter stated.
