The federal capital territory administration FCTA, has commenced a strategic training program for 187 vice principals academics of FCT secondary schools and other stakeholders in the education system.
Declaring the training open which was held at the Nigeria Building and Road Research Institute NBRI, in Abuja,FCTA, secretary for education, Dr. Danlami Hayyo, emphasised the importance of equipping educators with the skills, knowledge, and leadership capacity needed to nurture a generation of problem-solvers, innovators, and job creators.
Hayyo noted that vice principals academics play a crucial role in ensuring that entrepreneurship education is embedded in teaching and learning.
The training program will focus on key areas such as understanding entrepreneurship education, leadership, curriculum development, stakeholder engagement, resource mobilization, and assessment.
According to Hayyo, “This training is a call to action, and I trust that you will take the lessons learned here and translate them into impactful changes in your schools.”
Earlier, director /secretary, FCT secondary Education Board (SEB), Dr. Mohammed Sani Ladan, presented an overview of innovation and entrepreneurship education activities in the FCT.
He highlighted the integration of entrepreneurship education into the curriculum, equipping students with practical skills, critical thinking abilities, and a problem-solving mindset.
Ladan also noted that selected secondary schools have established innovation and entrepreneurship clubs, where students engage in practical business simulations, product development, and financial literacy exercises.
Director, FCT Science Innovation and Technology, Mr. Kolawole Olobashola, encouraged the trainees to be active, engaged, and open-minded throughout the program.
The training program is a testament to the FCTA’s commitment to enhancing the quality of education in the FCT, with a focus on science, technology, and innovation.
