Executive Chairman,Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC) Christopher Maikalangu, has embarked on an inspection tour of completed and ongoing projects in the council area.
The inspection, which took place on Thursday, January 30th 2025, covered several communities, including Garki, Durumi 3, Waru, Galadimawa, Kuchigoro, Lugbe, Gosa, Toge, Sabo Lugbe, and Pyakasa.
At Garki, Maikalangu inspected the renovated seven-classroom block at LEA Primary School, expressed excitement on the work done.
Addressing the chairman and his entourage, Kasmin Jilbrin Karshi, the Head Teacher, LEA Primary School Garki, said the school needs teachers to support the existing ones in the school.
We don’t have much teachers. We need more teachers. We’re grateful for what the chairman has done for us by renovating the school for us. Before the renovation, we were sitting on the floor to learn. However, we now have more chairs than we need. The only challenge is the issue of teachers,” he said.
In his response, Maikalangu assured the school that they will get an additional 10 teachers before the end of February, saying the gesture is to encourage learning activities.
He also visited the Garki Primary Healthcare Center, where he inspected the newly added block and was praised by the Officer-in-Charge, Mrs. Monica Victor Jacob, for providing solar lights that have facilitated seamless nighttime childbirth.
In Durumi 3, Maikalangu expressed dissatisfaction with the quality of ceilings used by the contractor at the primary school and ordered their replacement with modern ones.
The chairman also inspected ongoing road projects in Waru, Galadimawa, Kuchigoro, Lugbe, Gosa, Toge, and Sabo Lugbe, and urged community members to report any contractor using substandard materials.
Maikalangu emphasized that all the projects were sited in rural communities to ensure they benefit from the dividends of democracy.
Community leaders and residents praised Maikalangu’s developmental strides and promised to support his re-election bid in 2026.
At Gosa, a community member, Hon. Nuhu Aota, praised Maikalangu for transforming the community with the construction of a 2.4km road with dual drainage, saying economic activities are thriving in the community.
Aota assured Maikalangu that the community will vote for him in 2026.
“We want Maikalangu to go for a second term. He has done well for us. Maikalangu is a man of the people”, he said.
Similarly, at Toge, a community member, Ayuba Ishaya, praised Maikalangu for providing electricity and road for the community, saying the chairman has no comparison.
Ishaya begged Maikalangu to construct a healthcare center for the community, lamenting the suffering of pregnant women in the community.
He assured Maikalangu that the community will vote for him in 2026, saying “we will vote for you because you have done well for us.”
At Pyakasa, Maikalangu supervised the ongoing construction of a town hall, which was at 60% completion.
The Dakachi of Kakwa Pyakasa, Chief James Shekwagu, praised Maikalangu for providing a healthcare center and a transformer for the community, saying the chairman has given them life.
Shekwagu assured Maikalangu that the community will vote for him in 2026, saying “we didn’t know that one day this community will be remembered in the delivery of dividends of democracy.”
Maikalangu’s inspection tour was part of his administration’s efforts to ensure quality project delivery and promote transparency and accountability in governance.
The chairman’s commitment to developmental projects has earned him the support of community leaders and residents, who have pledged to vote for him in 2026.
